The CAN-SPAM Act is a U.S. federal law that governs commercial email communications. It mandates accurate representation of your business, including a valid physical address, and requires that recipients have the option to unsubscribe from your emails.
Including Your Physical Mailing Address
To comply with CAN-SPAM regulations, Pipeline CRM requires you to provide a physical mailing address in all mass emails. This address is automatically included in your emails and cannot be removed or altered except to update it as needed.
Before sending your first email campaign, you’ll be prompted to enter your physical address. Ensure this is a legitimate mailing address where you can receive mail. If you don’t have a business address, consider renting a post office box. Using a false address can lead to penalties of up to $16,000 per email with incorrect information.
Unsubscribe Options
As required by law, every mass email sent through Pipeline CRM includes an unsubscribe link. This feature is automatically added to your emails and cannot be removed.
If a recipient requests to unsubscribe without using the provided link, you can manually mark them as unsubscribed:
- Navigate to the person’s profile page.
- Click Edit Person.
- In the System Fields section, check the box labeled Unsubscribed.
