Control what opens when you click an email address in Pipeline CRM.
Without email sync, clicking an email address in Pipeline CRM opens your default email app or provider. With email sync turned on, you choose what happens in your profile settings.
Choose an option with email sync on
Before you start: Your email must be synced. See Sync Your Email.
- Click your profile icon in the top right corner.
- Select My Profile.
- Click the Email tab.
- Go to the Email Links section.
- Choose to open email links in the Pipeline CRM email composer or in your default email app.
If links open your default email app and it's the wrong one, change the default on your computer or in your browser using the steps below.
Set your default email app on Windows
- Open the Start menu and select Settings.
- Click Apps.
- Click Default apps.
- Under Email, select the app you want to use.
For more detail, see Microsoft's guide to changing default apps.
Set your default email app on macOS
- Open the Mail app.
- In the menu bar, click Mail > Settings (on macOS versions before Ventura, Mail > Preferences).
- Open the General tab.
- Choose your preferred app from the Default email reader menu.
For more detail, see Apple's guide to changing your default email app.
Use a web-based email app like Gmail
Gmail runs in your browser, so you can't set it as your computer's default email app. Instead, let your browser open email links in Gmail through its protocol handler settings. If links aren't opening where you expect, check these settings in your browser.
Google Chrome
- Go to Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings.
- Click Additional permissions.
- Click Protocol handlers.
- Allow sites to ask to handle protocols, and check which site is set to handle email links.
Microsoft Edge
- Go to Settings > Cookies and site permissions.
- Select Protocol handlers.
- Allow or block sites from handling protocols.
Mozilla Firefox
- Go to Settings > General.
- Scroll to Applications.
- Search for "mailto".
- Choose the app or website that should open email links.
Menu names can vary slightly between browser versions.
