Get past Microsoft's Need admin approval prompt when you connect your Microsoft 365 mailbox or the Outlook add-in to Pipeline CRM.
Why you see this message
When you connect, Microsoft may show:
"Pipeline CRM needs permission to access resources in your organization that only an admin can grant. Please ask an admin to grant permission to this app before you can use it."
Your organization's Microsoft 365 settings don't let users approve new apps on their own. Someone with admin rights in Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) has to approve Pipeline CRM first. Nothing is wrong with your Pipeline CRM account.
Ask your Microsoft 365 admin
Send your admin one of these requests. The first is the quickest fix for everyone on your team.
Ask your admin to
Why it helps
Admin guide
Grant admin consent to Pipeline CRM for your organization
Approves the app once, so nobody on your team sees the prompt again
Grant tenant-wide admin consent
Allow user consent for specific users or groups
Lets the people who use Pipeline CRM approve it themselves, without opening consent to everyone
Configure user consent
Turn on the admin consent workflow
Adds a Request approval option to the prompt, so you can ask for access from the prompt itself
Configure the admin consent workflow
Connect again
Once your admin has approved Pipeline CRM, reconnect:
- Your mailbox: Follow the steps in Sync Your Email.
- The Outlook add-in: Sign in again from the add-in panel. See Set Up the Outlook Contact and Calendar Sync.
Still seeing the prompt?
This setting is controlled in Microsoft 365, not in Pipeline CRM. If your admin has approved the app and the prompt still appears, they can contact Microsoft 365 support.
