Custom field groups bundle related fields together — for example, all your shipping fields or all your contract fields — so they're quicker to find on profile pages, in list view columns and in add/edit forms.
Before you start: Account Admin permissions required. Groups are set up per record type (company, deal, person or project).
Create a Group and Add Fields to It
- In the lower-left corner, click Settings.
- Click the Data Entry tab.
- Click Custom Fields.
- Select the record type: Company, Deal, Person or Project.
- Click \+ Custom Field Group.
- Enter a name that describes the fields the group will hold, and save it.
- Assign fields to the group. You can pick a group when you create a new custom field, or edit an existing field to move it into one.
By default, fields are ungrouped. For how to create the fields themselves, see Create and Manage Custom Fields.
Use clear group names and keep each group to fields that belong together. A group called "Shipping Details" is easier to scan than one called "Misc."
Where Your Groups Appear
- On profile pages: Each group shows as its own tile. To rearrange tiles, click Actions > Edit Layout, then drag a tile by the arrows in its upper-left corner.
- In the list view column manager: Fields are listed under their group. Click a group name to expand it and add its fields as columns.
- In add/edit forms: Visible groups appear open. Hidden groups are collapsed at the bottom of the form.
To choose which groups are visible or hidden in forms, see Customize Add/Edit Forms. To change the tile layout for everyone, see Customize Profile Page Layouts.
