Activity Categories help you classify and organize your sales activities for better tracking and reporting. By using categories, you can quickly see which types of activities are driving your deals forward and streamline your workflow.

Why Use Activity Categories?
  • Stay organized: Group similar activities (e.g., calls, meetings) for better tracking.
  • Spot trends: Easily analyze which activities move deals ahead.
  • Custom fit: Create categories that match your team’s specific process.

Common Activity Categories

  • Phone Calls
  • Meetings
  • Competitor
  • Deal Background
Note: The Email category is a built-in system category. It’s used to automatically track emails sent to customers or BCC’d to your Pipeline CRM account. You can’t remove or rename the Email category, and it won’t appear in your editable list of activity categories.

Managing Activity Categories

Steps to Manage Categories
  1. In the lower-left corner, click on Settings.
  2. Select the Activities tab.
  3. To edit a Category, click the edit icon next to a category’s name. Enter your changes, then save.
  4. To delete a Category, click the trash can icon. Confirm your choice to remove the category.
  5. To add a Category, click on  + Add Activity Category button, enter a name, and save.

Viewing and Editing
  • The list of activity categories appears on the left side of the Activity Categories page.
  • Use the icons on the right to edit (pencil and paper icon) or delete (trash can icon) a category.
  • To add a new category, click + icon of the Activity Feed section.

Key Reminders

  • Only custom categories can be edited or deleted.
  • The Email category is managed by the system and always tracks sent emails and BCC activity automatically.
  • For specifics on tracking emails, refer to our guide on BCC tracking here.

Tips for Success

  • Use clear, descriptive names for each category so your team always knows when to use them.
  • Review your activity categories regularly and remove any you no longer need for a cleaner workspace.
