Connect Your Own OpenAI Key to the AI Email Assistant

Add your own OpenAI API key to keep using the AI Email Assistant after your plan's monthly free prompts run out.

    Before you start

You need a paid OpenAI API account with billing set up:

    1. Sign up at OpenAI's platform with your Google or Microsoft account. OpenAI may ask you to verify your account with a mobile number.
    2. Add your payment details on the billing page of your OpenAI account. See OpenAI's guide to setting up billing.

    Create an OpenAI API key

    1. Go to the API keys page in your OpenAI account.
    2. Click Create new secret key.
    3. Copy the key and store it somewhere secure. You'll paste it into Pipeline CRM next.

For more help, see OpenAI's guide to finding your API key.

Add the key in Pipeline CRM

    1. Go to Settings > Other > App Store.
    2. Find the AI Assistant integration and click Configure.
    3. Paste your API key in the OpenAI integration section.
    4. Click Test Connection to check that it works.
    5. Click Save.

    How OpenAI bills you

Usage with your own key is billed by OpenAI through your OpenAI API account. This is separate from a ChatGPT subscription, which doesn't cover API usage.

    • OpenAI charges pay-as-you-go, based on the number of tokens processed (both your prompt and the generated text). A token is roughly a word or a few characters.
    • Rates vary by model and change over time. See OpenAI's API pricing page for current costs.
    • Any spend limits and rate limits on your OpenAI account still apply to the AI Email Assistant.
