Update Existing Records by Import

Update many Companies, People, or Deals at once by importing a CSV of your changes, instead of editing records one by one.

Updates made this way cannot be undone. Review your CSV carefully before you import it.

Step 1: Export the records you want to update

    1. Go to the list view for Companies, People, or Deals.
    2. Click the Columns icon and enable the fields you want to update.
    3. Click the three dots (•••) and select Export as CSV.

Tip: For full export instructions, see Export Data as CSV or PDF.

Step 2: Prepare your CSV file

    1. Open the exported file. It includes a Company ID, Person ID, or Deal ID column — this is how Pipeline CRM knows which records to update. Do not delete this column.
    2. Make your changes to the other fields.
    3. Save the file in CSV format.

Step 3: Import the updated file

    1. Click the + icon in the top-right corner.
    2. Click Import.
    3. Select the record type you're updating.
    4. Upload your CSV file.

Tip: For a full import walkthrough, see Import Your CSV or Excel File.

    Step 4: Map your fields

    1. Match each CSV column to the correct Pipeline CRM field.
    2. Select Ignore this field for any column you don't want to update.
    3. Map your ID column to ID (for updating records).

If ID (for updating records) isn't in the mapping dropdown, contact customercare@pipelinecrm.com to have it enabled for your account.

    Step 5: Review your results

    1. Check your email for the import confirmation.
    2. If any records failed to update, the email includes a link to a file listing each error and its cause.
    3. Correct your CSV and import again if needed.
