Email Activity Tracking lets you log email conversations to Pipeline CRM without enabling Email Sync. By BCC’ing or forwarding your emails to Pipeline, you can log them as email activities into people, deals, or companies.
How to Log Emails Using BCC
When composing an email to a contact:
- In your email client, draft your message as you normally would.
- In the BCC field add cc@app.pipelinecrm.com and send your email.
- OR Forward emails to inbox@app.pipelinecrm.com.
When to Use **cc@app.pipelinecrm.com**?
This works best when:
- The contact is associated with only one deal.
- If the contact is associated to multiple deals, it will associate the email to the deal with the most recent update.
- You want a simple, automatic way to log emails without choosing a specific deal or company.
You can:
- Add cc@app.pipelinecrm.com to the BCC field when sending an email.
- Forward received emails to cc@app.pipelinecrm.com to log them.
What happens:
- The email and its attachments are saved as an email activity on the recipient’s profile.
- If the person does not yet exist, Pipeline will create a record for them.
- If the contact’s email domain doesn’t match any company domain you already have in Pipeline, we’ll automatically create a new company record.
(Example, contact email: **jane@acme.com** → company email: **info@acme.com**).
To help avoid duplicate companies, before you BCC, just make sure the company record already has an email address with the same domain as the contact’s email.
When to Use **inbox@app.pipelinecrm.com**?
Use inbox@app.pipelinecrm.com when you need more control over where the email is logged. This is useful when:
- A contact is tied to multiple deals or companies and you want to choose the correct one.
- You forgot to BCC Pipeline originally and need to add the email after the fact.
After forwarding to this address, you’ll be able to manually assign the email to the correct person, deal, or company as needed. To find emails forwarded to inbox@app.pipelinecrm.com:
- Go to Tools > Email.
- Open the Forwarded tab.
- Select the email and apply the associations.
Make sure you’re sending the email from an address linked to your Pipeline CRM account.
Do not put cc@app.pipelinecrm.com in the TO or CC fields, as it won’t log the email properly.
Alternative Email Addresses
If you want to log email activities from an address different from the one you use to sign in, add it to your profile:
- Go to My Profile (top right corner).
- Open the Email tab.
- Scroll to Other Email Addresses and add the address.
This ensures Pipeline recognizes forwarded or BCC’d emails as yours.
