Deal Stages

Deal Stages map your sales process in Pipeline CRM so you can track where every opportunity stands. Each stage carries a probability that reflects how likely a deal at that stage is to close, which is what drives your forecasting.

Before you start: You need Account Admin permissions to add or edit stages.

    Add or Edit Deal Stages

    1. Click Settings in the lower-left corner.
    2. Select the Deals tab, then click Pipelines & Stages.
    3. Click \+ Add Stage to create a new stage.
    4. Assign a probability value from 0% to 100%.
    5. To update a stage, click the pencil icon.
    6. To remove a stage, click the trash icon.

    How Probability Values Work

Probability is what makes weighted forecasting possible — a deal in a 75% stage counts for more in your pipeline value than one at 25%.

    Value

    Convention

    0%

    A deal that's been lost

    1–99%

An open stage, somewhere in your process

    100%

    A deal that's been won

Note: Each pipeline can only have one stage per probability value. If 50% is already taken, pick a different number for the new stage.

Tip: Stage names must be unique across all pipelines — no duplicates. If you run parallel processes, qualify the names, like "Demo — Enterprise" and "Demo — SMB".

    Deal Won and Loss Reasons

Reasons capture why a deal closed the way it did, which is where most of your pipeline insight comes from.

    1. Go to Settings > Deals and select Won Reasons or Loss Reasons.
    2. Choose how reasons behave:
    • Show Reason in Deals — display the reason and allow notes on the deal.
    • Reason Dialog — prompt for a reason whenever a deal is marked Won or Lost.
    • Require Reason — make a reason mandatory before saving.
    1. Click \+ Add Deal Won/Loss Reason to create one.
    2. Reorder reasons by dragging the six-dot icon.
    3. Edit with the pencil icon, remove with the trash icon.
