Preparing your deals for import doesn’t have to feel like rocket science. Follow these simple steps to ensure your data is imported into Pipeline CRM smoothly and accurately.
1. Start With Clear Column Headers
- Always include column headers in the first row of your file.
- Your headers don’t have to match Pipeline CRM’s field names exactly, but they should be clear and descriptive for easy mapping.
- Example headers: Deal Name, Deal Value, Close Date
2. Map Data to System and Custom Fields
- Pipeline CRM has a set of default fields for deals. If your data doesn’t fit these, create custom fields before you import.
- Here is more information on creating custom fields.
- Check the list of system fields here.
3. Associating Deals With Companies
- To connect deals to companies, add a column for the company name.
- Company names must match exactly with what’s already in Pipeline CRM.
- Double-check for typos or extra spaces—accuracy matters!
4. Associating Deals With People
- To link deals to people, include a column for one of the following:
- Person Full Name (must be unique)
- Person Email
- Person ID (find this by exporting people records or from the person’s profile URL)
- You can associate more than one person with a deal. The first person listed becomes the primary contact.
- During import, map your column to ‘Person (Full name, email, ID)’.
